From subsea drilling to surface production of LNG(Liquefied Natural Gas) on an FLNG(Floating LNG Production Storage and Offloading) is introduced. Particularly Liquefaction Process System is discussed at FEED(Front End Engineering Design) stage in detail.
FLNG consists of a hull, a turret, and a topside as shown in Fig. 1. The topside is divided into two parts: the process system and the utility system. The process system consists of separation, pretreatment, fractionation, and liquefaction.
The liquefaction process is regarded as primary among all topside process of an FNLG. The liquefaction process typically accounts for 70 % of the capital cost of the topside process system and 30~40 % of the overall FLNG cost, so it is very important to select its liquefaction process based on thermodynamics. Various types of liquefaction processes can be determined according to their respective syntheses.
